an email from Allison that may have been missed. Important!!!

It has been called to our attention that the addition of a professional meeting in the next year or so may be difficult for some people to accommodate.

The department has a goal of effectively preparing you to participate in your profession by being aware of and involved in your professional organization. We believe attending a professional conference exposes you to the profession in operation, places you alongside peers and future colleagues and lets you experience valuable continuing education. It is an optimal way to achieve our goal…Yet…

Inasmuch as it was not an activity/expense which you were anticipating and some of you have expressed that it would be difficult to accommodate, we would like to work creatively and collaboratively with you to achieve the professional preparation in an alternative manner.

If you believe that you will not be able to work out a way to attend a professional mental health conference by the end of Spring 2012, please let Dr. Hurley know and he will work with you to fashion an alternative learning experience. There are limited other opportunities to become aware of and engaged with appropriate mental health professionals. For example, there have sometimes been regional (no cost) meetings of professionals. The MAMFT Board meets periodically and sometimes has day long retreats. The MS Licensure Board meets periodically as well.

If you would like to work out an alternative professional exposure, contact Dr, Hurley.
